Gordon Brown addresses TUC Congress

His first Speech as Prime Minister

For the first time as Prime Minster, Gordon Brown addressed the TUC. Brown pledged tougher enforcement of the minimum wage, investment in skills and better conditions for all workers in the global market. Brown pledged to end the boom and bust cycle of previous governments and stated that pay discipline was essential to prevent inflation and to protect growth and job creation. He received a warm if not rapturous response from Congress. Steve Levinson reports.
